Unfortunately as of July 2023, the NHS has ended its partnership with Sk:n laser hair removal clinics.
The partnership allowed transgender people who are eligible for facial hair removal (laser or electrolysis) to use their NHS issued vouchers at Sk:n clinics across the country.
Unfortunately, over the past year the relationship between Sk:n and the NHS has deteriorated to a point where the partnership was unable to continue.
It is alleged by an anonymous member of staff at Sk:n that the NHS requested the clinics to do additional training and qualifications which the clinic was unwilling to do – this is most likely that the training would have cost the company money and the NHS where refusing to reimburse them.
This was first brought to our attention by a Reddit post in the TransgenderUK community.
If we become aware of any more information about the reasons behind this decision, we will update this post in due course.
